The will and the space to grow, the pride for being Italian and a tattoo that says everything. Martina, Store Manager of the Terranova store in the Italian city of Padua, tells us about her career at Teddy.
For the sake of convenience or just as a habit, people who usually conduct job interviews almost always have a pattern to follow: some questions to understand who the applicant is and then some topics to explain him or her the job. Martina, the Store Manager of Terranova Store in the Italian city of Padua is one of them and, for her, the moment she has to introduce Teddy always becomes an occasion to talk about what in some ways was her own career inside the company. A place where she discovered her own abilities and potential: that is the concept, or better to say the truth, she is never tired of repeating with the directness and the self-confidence of a person who knows what she is talking about because she experienced it first-hand.
“When I started in 2021 the first impact was strong. I came from an experience as a sales assistant but I was in no way prepared for Teddy. I was frightened by the huge number of things and information to learn and remember. However, I immediately noticed a great sympathy and trust on behalf of the company”. A helping hand always available that soon became a drive to grow, to take on the first responsibilities and even to be allowed to make mistakes. “At the beginning I made a lot of mistakes, but the most wonderful thing was that I was not judged by my supervisors because of them but more for what I could give and the steps forward I could make”. In such a situation Martina felt at ease and, getting past the first problems, doing her work well was not just enough to her, as she had a great will to grow and the need not to stand still at the same point. Within a few years she became the Store Manager, the person in charge of a store she straightforwardly calls “home”. “We are a young and large team, with a strong passion and will to live and work. I am very proud of doing what I do and to be where I am, working for an Italian fashion Company”.
27 years old, a strong Veneto accent, Martina does not hide her love for Rimini, where she could stay for one month after having been employed for a year, thanks to the training program carried out at the Company. A period she cherishes and she herself regards as one of the most beautiful in her life. “Before going to Rimini I did not imagine that Teddy was such a large company, it was a surprise. I could meet the people who work there and who were just names on the email in the beginning. However, the most incredible thing was the friendship I formed with many girls who were there with me for the training course and with whom I am still in touch today”. A period so full of strong emotions that Martina and her colleagues decided to “capture” it with a tattoo that recalls Romagna and Teddy together. “Sbionta” (“it’s burning”) is a way of saying in Romagna that refers to something hot and burning, it is the word that now is permanently on their skin with a hanger replacing the last letter. And it is funny to think that this flame and that unpredictable series of events were kindled almost by chance, one day that she was walking in Padua town center and on the wall of a closed shop she saw an unmistakable message: Terranova, we’ll be here soon. “Wow, I will contact them straight away!”
