The perfect recipe for Monika between cakes and clothing

Flour, yeast, sugar, eggs, decorations and a keen eye for details. The steps to make a cake require great attention: you cannot get the quantities of the ingredients or the cooking times wrong. A pastry chef, just like a conductor with an orchestra, needs to be able to move all the elements in unison in order to get an excellent and tasty final product.  

And Monika knows all the tricks very well. In her leisure time she loves creating any type of delicacy and she decided to use in her job the same method she applies to pastry-making: she is the store manager of the Terranova store in Wroclaw, Poland. She welcomes and deals with customers in the same dashingly way she makes her cakes: «They need care, attention, to be listened to, to be understood, they need to feel pampered and accompanied at every small step; this is the only way to win their trust. They are the compass for any of my decisions».

The story between Monika and Teddy starts in 2017, with the opening of the first Terranova store in the Polish town of Wroclaw She had been already working for over nine years in a point of sale for another brand and when got the proposal to join our Rimini family she could not say no. She was directly hired as store manager, the position she already had in her previous job. “Despite I had already a long experience in my role, I found myself in a new world to discover: new software, new products, new strategies, new visual and new colleagues. However the company never left me alone, I felt being accompanied step by step during my onboarding process», she says.

Teddy often organizes training sessions in Italy for employees located abroad, in order to make them know the beating heart of the Company. Those are key moments that allow people to grow professionally and personally and Monika had the opportunity to take part in it. «I had been hired for not so long and my head manager of the time decided to take me with him to Rimini to introduce me to the new company. I met positive, sunny, smiling people: everybody helped each other with enthusiasm. I remember it as a peaceful, familiar, dynamic workplace where to feel good and be yourself. Those meetings are truly formative and help you to understand the true meaning of Teddy».

Nine year passed from that first meeting and nothing seems to have changed: Monika still has the same enthusiasm of the very first day. «I love my job, I love my store, I love talking with customers. This point of sale is like a child to me, to be taken care of and pamper; sometimes it makes me crossed, but it is always my child I love so much and I would never part from. I adopted it in 2017 and since then I have never abandoned it».

As the store manager, Monika is responsible for her team: «My team is truly strong and attached: they are thirteen people with whom I work really well, she adds.  Some of my colleagues are the same I had in the previous store, therefore we have been working together for more than ten years, we are in synch. I believe the most important ingredient to make a team work is sincerity: when something does not work, it is right to speak about the problem so we can discuss and find a solution. This is why every day I organize a small meeting with everybody, where we exchange ideas, points of view and try to identify what can be improved. Our target is always the customer, on whom all our decisions are tuned.

We want customers to find a homey environment at Teddy, even better if there is the smell of a cake just baked. Just like any other family we work to keep the Company Dream going on and everyone gives their own precious and unique contribution.
